Crafting a Devanagari font for today's India.
FONT DESIGN
ईवारा
This graduation project centers on designing a new Devanagari typeface that fuses the script's cultural significance with contemporary Indian design, drawing inspiration from "Cultural Fusion" concepts in graphic design, architecture, and fashion. The aims of this project are to revitalize the Devanagari script, incorporate trends like ink traps, biophilic urbanism, and reimagined Indian silhouettes, develop a functional font, embody the spirit of modern India, and maintain the inherent beauty of the script.

Abstraction
1.
It involves careful observation and creative interpretation. Analyze the key elements of each trend – shapes, textures, colors, and overall aesthetic.
2.
Consider how these elements can be translated into typographic forms – through letterforms, stroke variations, spacing, and overall character.
3.
For example, "Biomorphic Urbanism" might inspire a font with organic, flowing forms and a focus on legibility and environmental consciousness. "Bold Prints" could translate into a font with strong, graphic forms and vibrant color palettes.

EVARA
Evara is a combination of three trends, Cultural Fusion in Architecture, Indo-Western Fusion in Fashion and reimagining Indian Silhouettes. This concept includes a blend of traditional elements with contemporary influences.
The typeface is an interpretation of cultural fusion in typography. While maintaining the traditional structure of Devanagari script, such as its characteristic curves, the letterforms incorporate dynamic elements like rectangles and triangles at their terminations, inspired by the modern cuts found in contemporary Indian fashion silhouettes.
The font has varied stroke weights, resulting in a high-contrast and bold appearance that evokes the elegance and stylishness of Indo-Western outfits. This interplay of thick and thin strokes adds a touch of sophistication and high visual impact.
Additionally, it draws inspiration from modern architecture, which is evident in its blocky structure. This gives a sense of solidity and modernity while preserving the inherent flow of the Devanagari script.
